LOCAL AND GENERAL.

Oddfellows "At Home'' (euchre and dancing) Thursday night Oddfellows Hall ' During the l>.:1 week further stormy weather has been experienced. On Thursday night in Pukck<>l." several pines were blown down whilsi, fences, out buildings, and fruit trees in bloom also suffered. The wonder expressed by those who constantly attend the Ail Star pictures is that the variety is unending. The writer heard an Auckland visitor last week praisingthe pictures in I'ukekohe. "Good as we get in town," be said, " projection is really first class, mid the subject* are well chosen." Mr .1. Wright, of i'uni, had a return of Ii |:} l(s :id from six cows for the August month. Highest tests were 5.1), 1.7 and .}.(). " Not bad," said Mr Wright. "They're Jerseys and in the six there's one duffer. It isn't a record you know. If you want something real good get Mr Brownlee's figures." However, the foregoing returns will give outsiders some guide to the good butter-fat results obtained in August in I'ukekohe district The first auction sale of household fur nil Hie held in I'ukekohe for some time takes place to-morrow flliursday) when a clearance sale will be held on account of Mi S. Little. The auctioneer is Mr H. 1.. Jennings, ot Tauniarunui, who is; establishing an aiic'ioueering business in tli!.- town. Mr H. Bilkey lias purchased 14 acres ot the Winchmore Estate, on Pukekohe Hill. We understand that the price paid was a record for "Hill" property. The homestead, with about 14 acres, has also een sold to Mr Jaguish, a retired Auckland merchant, who, it is understood, is about to take up his residence here. Of course there will be a full house at Saturday night's concert in the Oddfellows' Hall, Pukekohe. A glance at the brisk advertisement in another column emphasises how "fast and furious" the fun will be. This concert will be the last of the series promoted by the Pukekohe Sports Concert League. The fare in the past has been of a very high order and thu next and final entertainment gives promise of eclipsing every previous effort. Pukekohe Bowling Club promises to enjoy even greater success than it did last season, which is saying a good deal. Already players are furbishing their bowls and watching the sun and the sky. Members and intending members are to fraternise at Hawke's dining rooms this evening, when dinner will be discussed at half-past six. After the social function i the annual general meeting will be held J when officers will be elected for the ensuing year.
