The funeral of the late Mr Brownlee took place in tho Presbyterian cemetery last Tuesday and was largely attended by relatives and settlers from this arid surrounding districts, the do-
ceased gentleman being universally respected. The last solemn rites were read by the Rev Angus McDonald. A verv narrow escape from a serious accident" took placo in Dean and Co.'s mill last week. Some of the machinery fixings worked loose, but nothing serious occurred, fortunately for those in the near vicinity. The defective machine has been taken out and a new one put in its place. Last Monday's sale was a splendid one, prices being excellent. Buyers looked glum and sellers were wreathed in smiles in consequence. The additional twelve new pons recently erected were a boon to those yarding and full pens wero the order of the day. The sale occupied over four hours though Mr Brooks is uo sluggard in tho rostrum and it was keen comi»etition throughout. The annual ineetiug of tho Presbyterian Church was held hist week and the usual routine business transacted. The B*->v. 8- Nixon (Pukekohe) predaily mail has now commenced again, and will continue up to December 3l'st, leaving the local post ollico t7 am . Commencing January Ist Lit the new contractor will run a different timetable, as the postal officials •ill not countenance the present system ol the mails going with the cream The now service will, m all SaWH'y.
