BOROUGH WATER SUPPLY.

The Six Days' Test. It is reported that tho six days' tost of tho water supply has resulted in one million gallons being liftod, and that the bores filled rapidly when the pumps ceased work. The water obtained, it is understood, was about 7000 to 7500 gallons per hour. When this test was begun the idea was to pump 8000 gallons an hour from No. 1 bore for six days, but the trial appears to have shown that No. 1 boro is only capable of yielding about 4000 gallons an hour, from a working depth of GO feet. Finding that the inflow was insufficient air compressors were operated upon both bores simultaneously with the result, as stated, that 7500 gallons of water per hour was obtainable. Until the detailed roport is obtained—and we hope the Council will secure a written report, giving exact particulars—nothing further can be said on the matter.
