CATCHMENT BOARD WELCOMES NEW MEMBER
MR MAYS’S APPOINTMENT Mr J. F. Mayn, of Patetonga, was welcomed as a new member by the chairman, Mr H. M. Corbett, at last meeting of the Hauraki Catchment Board. Mr. Mayn replaced Mr T. Motion as Hauraki Plains representative.
Mr Mayn was very familiar with the Hauraki Plains, said Mr Corbett, and as chairman of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board had an intimate knowledge of the whole of the board’s district. “We look for your support in all of our undertakings,” he added. “At times we are under very severe criticism, like all local bodies, but with your knowledge of your particular district I feel sure that you will be very helpful to the board in all its deliberations.”
Mr Mayn thanked the chairman for his welcome, and expressed willingness to assist in all matters.. ,He hoped that the lower reaches of the Piako would be attended to before anything was done to the southern end, but he felt sure that the board would always do the best for the majority and take a long view in all its decisions.
