AGRICULTURAL CLUBS

GROUP MEETING The annual meeting of the Putaruru group of the Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs was hold in the school on Friday last, there being only a fair attendance of members. The secretary’s balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £6 9s lid but same clubs had not then 'contributed their levy to the central funds. The Education Board’s grant for last season was £ll 9s 6d. Hitherto there had always been long delays in receiving cups from 'the engravers. It was stressed also that the recipient should be able to take home his cup on field day, engraved or not. Since there was further delay in getting them back to tha secretary for engraving, the whole position was unsatisfactory. “After some discussion a motion was carried to the effect that the cup winner was to be presented with his trophy on field day. Thct engraving thereof was then to be the winner’s own responsibility. . Field Day It was reported that last season’s field day Was held at tha residence of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. White, and was most successful in spite of showery weather. M«r. and Mrs. White threw their .house and grounds open and provided refreshments at their cwn expense, while the members of their family gave their tima and services to good purpose. The group greatly appreciated such generous hospitality and extended, to Mr. and Mrs. White and family its hearty thanks. Election of Officers Members expressed satisfaction in the way things had been run, so there were no changes. Mr. C. A. Dciihl was re-elected president, and Mr. G. H. Roche hon. secretary, for the coming season.
