WEEK-END RESULTS Results of games played during the week-end wore a s follows: Third Grade: Tokoroa 14, Athletic 3. Juniors : Te Whetu 3, Tokoroa 0; Athletic 5, IFlorest Products 0; United 9, Maraetai 6. Seniors: Tokoroa 12, United 3; Maraetai 8, Forest Products 3. FOREST PRODUCTS v. ATHLETIC This game, played at Tokoroa, provided a sterling struggle between two sets of evenly matched forwards, with the backs of both sides attempting to open up play at every opportunity. Athletic won by five points to nil, but had Forest Products possessed a reliable placekicker the result might have been different.

The game opened at a fast pace with Forest Products attacking, and for a few minutes had Athletic in difficulties. Athletic gradually worked into Forest Product territory and endeavoured to keep the game open, but a long kick by Forest Products saw the ball fielded by Hodson near Athletic goal-line; but instead of kicking for touch he elected to run with the ball. This nearly had Athletic in trouble, and their forwards were called on for some hard, scrummaging before the position was relieved. .

Athletic then took the initiative, carrying play to Forest Products twenty-five, ■ but the defence was sound. Half-time found Athletic still on.attack and the score nill all.

For the commencement of the second spell Athletic attacked vigorously, Bourke narrowly failing to cross the line. Piny, however, changed quickly, first one side and then the other being on the attack, with both teams opening up the game on every occasion. From one attacking movement Forest Products were unlucky with an attempted drop-kick, the ball striking the crossbar and falling infield. During the closing stages of play Athletic dominated the game, their hacks and forwards giving Forest Products no respite. Time and ag-ain the Athletic backs swung into action, but the defence was sound. With about three minutes left for play, Haworth secured the ball from a loose ruck and sent 'his backs off for Bourke to go over in the corner. Dunn added the extra points with a good kick.

Play remained in midfield until the final whistle, with the score Athletic 5, Forest Products 0. TOKOROA v. TE WHETU In the junior game played at Bart’s Field, Te Whetu, on Saturday, between Tokoroa and Te Whetu, the home team notched its first win by defeating Tokoroa by three points to nil. Shortly after the start of play J. Deane, Te Whetu fullback, receiving the ball on his own twenty-five, ran up field, setting his backs in motion. After travelling along the line to centre, Simmonds, who, after selling a perfect dummy to his opposite number, drew the Tokoroa wing, and banded on to M. Meads who ran over unopposed. J. Deane’s kick at goal failel. The game then developed into a dour forward struggle in which neither team could gain the upper hand, the play swinging up and down field for the rest of the game. The game was ably controlled by Mr. J. D.
