DEFAULTERS AND VOTE
PIAKO ELECTORAL, ROLL Official inquiries made by a representative of the Matamata Returned Services’ Association on Wednesday elicited the information from the Registrar of Electors, Morrinsville, who is in charge of the Piako electoral roll, that to the best of his
knowledge and belief there were no defaulters who were barred from voting under the Electoral Emergency Regulations, 1943, on the Piako electoral roll. An odd name coming within the above category had been purged.
In reply to a further question the registrar stated that there were no means available whereby the R.S.A. could check the roll, and as the rolls were now closed no .action could be taken by him. However, after the voting had taken place all roils from suboffices were checked with a master roll.
