PUTARURU CLUB The results of the first round, for the Halkett trophy were as follower Freeman beat A. Pearce; Inman beat Brown; Hayward beat Work; F. Bayly beat Ohlson; Cornes beat Farley; Burkitt beat S. Haworth; Cross beat Fred Tomalin; Fitzherbert beat Frank Tomalin. The bogey match was won by W. Burkitt, the runners-up being Fred Bayly and Inman. On Sunday the president’s trophy, a 36 holes men’s foursomes, will be played. A draw will be taken at the clubhouse at £> a.m. sharp. There will be no points prize event this week. Owing to the men’s match being over 36 holes, the mixed foursomes will be played on August 4. Lion Trophies This competition will be played on the afternoon of August 11. All men players wishing to take part in draw for partners must hand their names to the secretary, Mr. Power, before August 6. PUTARURU LADIES The second round of the Ragwort Cup competition was played in conjunction with the July medal and the best card was returned by Miss L. Real, 110—33, ' 77.
