•"This is the first occasion since pre-war days that herd-testing trainees 'in New Zealand have consisted entirely of men,” declared Professor W. Riddet, addressing SO trainees at the opening course at Massey Agricultural College. “It rests with you young men to uphold the high standard of willingness and general helpfulness • established by the women, of whom over 300 were trained here and served the farming community during the war while many of you were away doing another job-” Fifty-six of the trainees are ex-servicemen.
