W.DII'.U. meeting The June meeting of the Tokoroa branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. Reid and presided over by Mrs. L. Newell, assisted by the secretary, Mrs J. Hassall. After the reading of the creed, the minutes of both the April and May meetings were read and confirmed. A new member, Mrs. P. Munro, was welcomed. Invitations to be present at the birthday parties of both Putaruru and Tjrau branches were received. It was decided to hold a card party and a street stall to augment funds. i j
The sending of food parcels to Britain was discussed and all members asked to bring along contributions.
An enjoyable combined talk was given by Mesdames May, Piavall and Rushbateh on the recently-held school of adult education.
Competitions resulted a s follows: Best bloom, Mrs J. Campbell 1, Mrs E. Goodriek 2, Mrs A. Reid 3; best shrub, Mrs A. Kirkman 1, Mr s L. Newell 2, Mrs J. Campbell 3; vegetable section, Mrs A. Hogg and Mrs A. Reid (equal) 1. , A delightful afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Hogg, Graydon and Dickenson. Hostesses chosen for next meeting were Mesdame s L. Ashworth, J. H. IS la in and D. Blain.
