OBITUARY

MR. a: r. vosper One of Putaruru’s Ibeert known residents, in the perapn of Mr. Arthur Richard: Vosper, - died at Hamilton on Monday. Aged 66 years, Mr. Vosper was an old resident of the district, and for a good number of yearo took an ac.tive part in its affairs and progress.

For many years a farmer, Mr. Vosper was for a long time a strong supporter of the -Farmers' Union, and wa,3 president of the. local branch for several periods. The Putaruru A. and P. Society in its early days was one of Mr. Vosper’s greatest interests, and muefih o-f the eucces» of its 'first show, and its following progress, was attributed to Mr. Vosper’s enthusiasm and untiring efforts. Mr, Vosper was president at the first Putaruru show in 1936 and at the two following shows- in 1937 and 1938. Mr. Vosper was also a member of the first Chamber of Commerce, and took an active interest in that body. In 1938 he was elected to the Putaruru Town Board and remained in office until 1944, when he did not seek re-election. For eighteen months he was Chairman of the Town Board, and always during his six years of office he did his best to assist in the progress of Putaruru. During the last few years Mr. Vosper conducted the business of a land agent.

Mro. Vosper died in September of last year and a son and daughter, Mr. C. Vosper and Mrs. R. Reid, are left to mourn their loss.
