BAND BENEFIT NIGHT
PICTURES AND ITEMS As a result of a special benefit night held in the Civic Theatre on Tuesday the Putaruru Citizens Band funds will benefit by about £7. The programme, which was divided into two parts, consisted of items, and a picture, “ Melody For Three,” supplied free of charge by the Putaruru Town Board. The programme was opened with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by a march, “ Our Director, by the band. Two songs, “ Because ” and “ Smiling Through,” by Mrs. D. C. Freeman, were followed by a .tap dance by Miss D Sanders. This item was well presented. Mr§. A. Riggir was the accompanist. ”The next item was of a very high standard and “ brought the house down.” This was a pianoforte solo by Mr. T. S. Webster (Hamilton), The Waikato March,” his own composition. Songs were then presented by a popular .entertainer, Mr. J. Riggir. These were greatly appreciated by the autdience. A march played by the band brought the first half of the programme to a completion, and the picture was then screened.
