CHURCH BAZAARS
ENGLISH VIIAR’S VIEWS Should churches “rob tradesmen” by holding bazaars? The Rev. Percy Sowerby, vicar of St. Mark’s, Manningham, Bradford, dealt with this question at a sale of work in connection with his church. “ In the first place,” he said, “the churches are not State-aided, and parsons are not State-paid, except those who are chaplains for Army, Navy, or prison work. “When all is said and done, church bazaars fill a real place in church life. They provide a splendid' opportunity for fellowship. Not for a moment do I think that they rob tradespeople. If they rob anyone, it is the churchpeople themselves.
