GOLF.
THE OKOROIRE CLUB. Although rain threatened all through last Saturday afternoon it held off, and consequently all sports were carried on under good conditions. The Okoroire Golf Club held its opening day as announced, entertaining visitors from the Matamata, Rocky Downs, Putaruru, Tirau and Waharoa clubs. The visitors were welcomed by the president, Mr. F. J. R. Goodwin. Miss I. Goodwin drove the first ball. The ladies excelled themselves, even for an Okoroire Golf Club-after-noon tea, and earned many a just compliment. The mixed foursomes were won by Mr. and Mrs. Barnett, of Putaruru, with a net score of 37 for nine holes. The runners up were Mrs. P. Dee and Mr. E. Harwood, with a score of 40. There were 48 players on the links.
