HERD-TESTING.
FEBRUARY RETURNS. District Groups Production. The average production per cow for the 63,887 cows tested by the New Zealand Herd-testing Association in February, 1928, was 4571 b of milk, 4.4 test and 20.391 b of butterfat. The t average production for 56,895 cows tested in February, 1927, was 6571 b of milk, 4.3 test and 28.481 b of butterfat. Details of the February averages for the various groups in the district are as follow:

In the list of grading averages of the New Zealand Dairy Company for February for butter graded at the cool stores for export, including local factory sales, the Morrinsville factory was second (average grade 94.07, boxes finest 4522, boxes first grade 171, boxes second grade 25), Waitoa fifth (average grade 93.9, boxes finest 5388, boxes first grade 48), and Waharoa sixth (average grade 93.74, boxes finest 9067, boxes first grade 1272, boxes second grade 10).
