MARKET INS OF BUTTER.
QUESTION OF ADULTERATION. Discussion of dairy control matters took place at a meeting of the Matamata branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union on Friday night. Mr. J. W. Simpson commented that one of the best suggestions he had heard for preventing adulteration was that which appeared in an editorial in the Matamata Record, namely, that the Empire Marketing Board should have regulations introduced enforcing the sale of all products under labels that bore a true description of the goods. He had always been opposed to price-fixing, which was impracticable, but it should not be impossible to prevent false descriptions of goods offered in the shops for sale.
