PEDESTRIANS AND ACCIDENTS.
Parents and teachers, give the youngsters timely warning, of the risks they run in playing about tfre streets before and after school, and of the necessity for remaining on the footpaths except where it is essential for them to cross the road. Teach them the motto: “ Beware of the Motor.”
The motorist has a solemn duty to avoid injury to pedestrians, especially children, but the civic authorities also owe a duty, both to the pedestrian and to the motorist to provide suitable footpaths and roads for the traffic offering. Bad corners, halfformed roads, absence of footpaths —all these tend to increase the risk of accident, just as much as does reckless or careless driving.
