EMPIRE DAIRY CONTROL.
WHEN dealing editorially with the question of Dairy Control some months ago, the opinion was expressed in this journal that the logical outcome of any such policy was the extension of it to include all the interests exporting dairy produce to Great Britain. Judging from a report received from Canada a day or two ago, this view is held by those directing big dairying interests abroad; at least, to apply the policy to Empire exporting countries has beer, favoured by the Canadian Producers’ Association. That body endorses the view that an “ entente ” should be made between Canada, Australia and New Zealand on the matter. The g-ist of the proposal is that the seasonal surplus of each country should be marketed on a cooperative scheme— though the word “ control ” is wisely avoided. By means of dovetailed plans, it is hoped to ensure a regular supply, all the year round, of Empire dairy produce on the London market. It will be interesting indeed to watch future developments of the proposed scheme.
