The Pahiatua Star. (Published Tuesdays and Fridays.) FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 1890.
The Education Hoard, unknown to those prin. ipally interested, are calling for applications for an assistant mistress for the Pahiatua School. The notice has been inserted in papers outside of this district altogether, and by merest chance a lady here (who has applied for the position) became aware of the fact. We refer to Miss Falls, who w# believe would be a lilting successor to the late mistress (Miss lioebuck). Tho Pahiatua School Committee, when they heard unofficially that applications were being invited, and that Miss Falla liad put in an application, held a s|»ecial meeting, at which it was unanimously resolved to recommend the Hoard to appoint that lady. Whether the “ gre«t power " will pay any attention to a recommendation front such an insignificant body as they deem the School Committee to be, remains to be seen. There is no reaeon, however, w hy the Committee should have something to say on matters which interest ti># school over which they preside, and we would urge them to assert their right.
