Aiciuxd, January 15. Au important discovery is reported from Dsrgaville to day. During the sinking of an artesian well in the centre of the town, a dark blue and green cement like stuff, containing black sand, wts found ala depth of 6H feet from the surface ; some bright specks are seen, and when the stuff was examined under a magnifying glass it was seen to contain what appeared to be fine free gold. A small parcel of the stuff, about Bibs, was panned off, and a residuum of black sand and ffoury gold was obtained. The stratum at present known to contain the gold is only about I*2 ii -l.es through and the bore only 2$ inches in diameter, so that no large quantity of the auriferous stuff can It obtained until a shaft is put down.
