Assembly on Tuesday evening on tlm proposal to extend the New South Wales railway system to the Broken 11)11 Silvermines, the notorious Mr M'Elhonc, member for the Upper Hunter, in the course of his remarks denounced some of the companies, including the White Rock Silvcrmining Company, just floated w ith a capital of £1,000,000, as swindles. Mr 0. M‘L. Matheson, another member, said he was interested in the company particularly referred to, ami called Mr M'Elhone a liar, whereupon Mr M'Elhone struck Mr Matheson in the face. A fight afterwards took place in the smoking-room, and the agrossor was soundly drubbed. The next day the dispute between Mr M'Elhone and Mr Matheson again cropped up in the Assembly. The latter announced that lie intended to onter an action against Mr M'Elhone, claiming £IO,OOO damages, for his having characterised the White Hock Silver Mining” Company as a swindle.
