Pahiatua-Puketoi Block.
The following information has been supplied by a member of the PahiafcuaPuketoi Special Settlement Association, which shows the improvements effected b*y the various selectors since allotment:—
From the above it will be seen that in the w hole block 910 acres have been felled, that is 701 rural, 175 suburban, and 3-1 town. On the rural sections 15 selectors have failed to make any improvements, 15 on town sections, and 9 on suburbun sections. The block comprises 5337 acres, and the land lias been allotted exactly two years last month, so that the improvements cannot be looked upon as thoroughly satisfactory from a settlement point of view ; but it must not be forgotten that the greater portion of i the rural land is very hilly country, ' w ith no means of access, therefore some ; excuse id to be found for the selectors* The rural sections range from 89 to ! 112 acres, or 5080$ in all; the subur- ! ban from 2 to 5 acres, or 2064 acres in all; the town sections contain 1 acre ►earn, or 50 acres in all. Although we j have only shown the block to contain
5837 aero*, the c unplete area is 0030. of which IH3 hits to be taken off for roads and reserve*. Whilst the improvements so far have uot been great in comparison to tiio tuna the land Lm<> been allotted, ret wo hope next year (that is providing tlie whole of the Tira nines road and Bridge-street are metalled, aii 1 the Tiniuruoa bridge linishodi to see such substantial progress as will in a measure make up for the past.
