I sincerely thank you for tire honor you have conferred upon me, by asking me to allow myself to be nominated at the approaching General Election to represent you in Parliament.

In reply, I have to state that I will contest the Election against all comers, and if elected I would support a Government introducing measures to the following effect: — ' Economy and Retrenchment in every branch of the Civil Service, and the amalgamation of Offices. The reduction of the honorarium, and of the number of members of both Houses.

The completion of the railway to Palmerston, and the construction of the line to Auckland, and the extension of the line from Eketahuna to Paluatua.

The opening up of Crown Lands, and tlie acquisition of Native Lands for settlement.

The cessation of borrowing, except for the works mentioned, until the finances of the colony have been placed on a sound footing. The amendment of the Land Act, by the repeal of the Perpetual Leasing System, und by giving greater facilities for selectors to take up Deferred Payment Lands.

The repeal of Property Tax and the introduction of a Lund and Income Tax. The amendments of the Education Reserves Act to enable the Government to use the revenue from the reserves for Secondary Education for the purposes of Primary Education. The reform of tho present system of railway management.

I shall address the Electors at all the centres of settlement throughout the district on dates to be advertised, when you will lind me supporting true Liberal measures, and that my knowledge of die district enables me to form reliable opinions on the subject of your local requirements.—l am, Gentlemen,
