Roll Stuffing.

The Napier correspondent of the Wuiroa Guardian writes :—Our roll is in a dreadful condition, and contains the names of hundreds of persons who claim under the residential clause who are either dead or residing in other districts. In some cases there are men down under the residental qualification who figure ou the Hawke's Bay and VYaipavva rolls for a similar qualification. This will account for the Napier roll bearing the names of over 2400 " adult males" out of a total population of bOOO persons. A small committee has beeu quietly formed to deal with this question, and its objects are to hire about a score of the most experienced men who can be obtained to act as scrutineers, and a sum of money is to be devoted to prosecuting in every case where impersonation takes place, or where after being warned a man persists in voting under the residential clause, in any constituency, if he is not a bona fide resident. The Napier roll, however, is not a patch upon the Woodville roll, which is said to contain 8000 adult male voters out of a total population of barely 6000. From the way things are now shaping it appears to mo that a plentiful crop of prosecutions will be one of llio results of the elections, and I shall be suprised if one at least of the seats is not fought fora second time.
