CROQUET.

The return croquet match, Havelock v. Picton, was played on the local courts yesterday in perfect weather. The visitors, who travelled by launch and motor car, via The Grove, reached Havelock at about 10 a.m., and were entertained ,at the pavilion to morning tea by Mrs W. H. Smith (wife of the president of the club). The first match ended in favour of Havelock by 14 points. An adjournment was then made to the Masonic Hotel, where an excellent dinner was prepared by Mr Ferguson. Play was resumed at 1 p.m. Following are the results; Mrs W. H. Smith and Miss Congdon (Havelock) beat Mrs Peak and Miss Fuller 26-12. Mrs Henderson and Mrs Brown (Havelock) beat Mrs Chambers and Mrs Grant 26-23. Mrs Thomas and Mrs Reade (Havelock) beat Mrs Smith and Miss Dart 26-14. Mrs Williams and Mrs Price (Havelock) v. Mrs Rodley and Mrs Bradley (unfinished). Totals: Haveloock 78 points, Picton 49.
