WELLINGTON MARKET REPORT. Messrs Townsend & Paul, Ltd., have pleasure in reporting an exceptionally keen demand for all dressed pork and poultry, and recommend consignments promptly. The following prices are ruling:— Dressed Pork.—so’s to 80’s prime BJd to 9d per lb, 50's to 80's medium BJd per lb, 80’s to 100's prime 7d to 8d per lb, 80's to 100's medium 64d to 7d per lb, 100’s to 120's prime 6d to 6Jd per lb, 100's to 120’s medium 6d to 6J per lb. Slips tid to 7d per lb. Bacon pigs 6d to 7d per lb as per quality. Choppers 3Jd to 4sd per lb as per quality. Suckers lOd to Is per lb. as per quality. If possible ship dressed pork to arrive in Wellington Thursdays or Fridays, the butchers here prefer pork at the end of the week. Turkeys, hens Is, gobblers Is 2d per lb. dead weight, fowls 3s 6d to 4s 6d per pair, ducks 6s to 8s per pair. Young ducks large 8s per pair. Walnuts Is per lb. Sheepskins, hides and fat in good demand at market rates. Pastry butter in good demand Is 2d to Is 3d. Eggs 2s 2d to 2s 4d per dozen. Carrots, parsnips, turnips, cauliflowers and cabbage in good demand. Blue cod, hap aka, and all fresh fish are scarce'at present and are selling at good prices. Consignments of Fish from some Bays can be shipped by s.s. “Nikau" and “Kaitoa” at French Pass. The ruling prices for produce are as/ follows:—Wheat Bs, maize 8s 6d bushel, barley 6s 6d per bushel, feedi oats 6s 6d bushel, rice pollard £8 10s, bran £7 10s, pollard £ll' per ton, all f.o.b. Wellington. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH April 2. At the Addington stock market there was a fairly large entry of stock, fats showing an increase. Fat cattle were practically without change, but fat sheep and fat lambs again dropped in price, from 2s to 3s per head. There was very little competition for export, owing to space in the works getting scarce. Store sheep were easier by Is 6d to 2s per head. The continued dry weather and scarcity of feed is seriously affecting the position of stock, both for the immediate future and for the coming winter. Store cattle were dull of sale. Fat pigs sold well, but weaners were not much in demand. Store Sheep.—Best two-tooth ewes 275. to 27s 9d, other two-tooth ewes 21a to 26s sd, four, six, and eight-tooth ewes 21s 7d to 29s Bd, good two-tooth wethers 24s 9d to 275, four and sixtooth wethers 23s 9d to 265, good mixed sex lambs 15s 3d to 16s, medium 13s 6d to 14s Id, cull lambs down 5s Id, ewe lambs 19s. Fat Sheep.—Extra prime wethers 42s 6d, prime wethers 30s to 35s 9d, lighter wethers 25s 6d to 29s 6d, extra prime ewes 42s 9d, prime ewes 27s 6d to 34s 6d, medium ewes 23s 6d to 275, lighter ewes 18s 9d to 235, merino ewes 10s 6d. Fat Lambs.—-Extra prime to 30s, prime. 24s 6d to 28s 6d, medium 21s to 245, lighter 15s to 2Qs. ,; Fat Cattle.—Extra prime steeriT to £23 15s, prime steers £ls to £2l, ordinary steers £l2 15s to £l4 10s, extra prime heifers £ls 2s 6d, prime heifers £lO to £l4 10s, ordinary heifers £6 10s, extra prime cows £ls 2s 6d, ordinary cows £7 to £lO 10s. , Store Cattle.—Calves 30s to 70s, eighteen months steers £6 5s to £7, two year steers £lO, dry cows £4 17s 6d to £7, bul .s £6 to £l2 17s 6d: dairy cows £7 to £l7. ■ Pigs.—Choppers £5 to £9 10s, baconers £5 to £8 17s, equal to 9|d per lb.; porkers £2 15s to £4 10s, equal to 10Jd per lb.; best stores £3 to £3 16s, medium £2 8s to £2 18s, small stores 25s to 38s, weaners 7s 6d to 16s.
