ENEMY’S LINES ENTERED. LONDON, March 17. Sir Douglas Haig reports:— We entered the enemy's lines westward of Yillers Guislain. We repulsed raids in the neighbourhood of Passchendaele and Poclcapello. There is reciprocal artillery fire south-westward of Cambrai, southward of Armenticrcs, and in the Messiues and Menin road sectors. Sir Douglas Haig later reports:— The Canadians raided south-east of Lens. A largo party of the enemy raided Passchendaele, and suffered heavily. We repulsed raids south of the Menin road. Our aviators bombed a railhead near Lillg and aerodromes north-east and eastward of St. Quentin. One of the latter's hangars was set on lire and two others were badly damaged. Welsh troops made a successful raid in the neighbourhood of Armcntieres. There is hostile artillery activity south-eastward of Ypres in the neighbourhood of the Menin road, and southward of Houthulst Forest. A Belgian communique says:— There has been considerable artillery activity during the past two days. An enemy raid at Mcrckem wms stopped by barrages. There were heavy bombing encounters in the region of Nicuport and Dixmude.
