With the present issue we publish the prospectus of the new War Loan, which is now being placed before the investors of the Dominion. The amount aimed at by the Finance Minister is £9,500,000, which, as in the case of the £16,000,000 loan raised last year, is offered on terms available to all classes of investors. Provision is made for small investors up to £SOO receiving 5 per cent, or its equivalent by investment in war certificates or war bonds through the Post Office. This class of investor will be limited to £SOO in order to prevent inflation of money values in New Zealand. Inscribed stock up to £SOO, will also be issued at the Post Offices to meet the requirements of small investors desiring a short currency at a higher rate of interest—s per cent., but which, however, will not be free from income tax. The terms of the Loan generally provide a giltedged and attractive investment to rich and poor alike, and we need hardly point out that it is the duty of all to assist the Government in financing the Dominion's share in the Avar. The public are not asked to make sacrifices—the people are invited to invest their savings in a profitable and State-secur-ed concern, and by so doing will help materially to strengthen the hands of the Government and assist to bring the end of the war nearer. It is to be hoped that the response will be such that there will be no necessity to bring into operation the compulsory clauses Avhich, under the Act, the Government have the power to direct against financial shirkers in the event of the amount of voluntary subscriptions being under the sum required.
