SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The usual monthly meeting of the Havelock School Committee was held last evening, the following members attending: Messrs J. B. Lovell (chairman), W. Blaylock, and E. A. Dance. The secretary’s report showed that the clocks had been put in order by Mr P. Pope, and the new grating for stove was quite satisfactory. The master's report gave tho average attendance for the month 78,0. Mr Sturrock wrote stating that he was unable to procure a suitable probationer.

It was decided that tho holidays for winter vacation commence on Monday, 2nd July, and to continue for two weeks.

The mooted threat to cease printing the School Journal was spoken against v ery strongly by a member of tho committee, and it was considered that economy should first be shown in other Government departments, such as the Post Office, Agricultural, Mining, Survey, etc. Accounts amounting to £2 0s 7d were recommended for payment.
