“Fine day !” observed the sallow passenger in the tramcar. “H’m !” was all the man addressed replied, as he went on reading his paper. “I say it’s a fine day !” “Yes.” “Lot of trouble with the harvest if we have any more rain.” “H’m !” “I say ther’d have been a lot of trouble ” “Yes, yes !” “Anything new in the paper this morning ?” “Yes. Man killed in a tramcar.” “Dear me ! How ?” “Talked to death !”
The sallow passenger, with a kind of gulp, sank back, and silence reign-
