HIGH GOMMISIONER’S CABLED
MARKET REPORT.
The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce, has received the following cablegram, dated London, 19th May, 1917, from the High Commisioncr for Hew Zealand.
MEAT: Owing to small supplies all descriptions of meat, prices are higher for Homo-killed mutton and beef. N.Z. mutton, per lb. 8 7-8 d; ewe mutton SJd; N.Z. lamb lOd; Argentine mutton 10d; Argentine lamb lid; Quotations are nominal, conditions of sale are the same as last week. Argenchilled beef, hinds, 13|d; fores lljd. BUTTER: The market is quiet but steady. Prices are easier. Danish, salted 204 s to 208 s; N.Z., salted 202 s to 2065; unsalted 204 s to 208 s; Australian, salted, 190 s to 1945; unsalted 192 sto 1965; Irish Creamery, salted 194 s to 198 s; unsalted 198 s to 200 s; Argentine, salted 186 s to 190 s; unsalted 190 s to 1925.
HEMP: Market remains firm. There is a general and active demand hut little offered from New Zealand. It is reported 70,000 hales are afloat from Manila under Government control. N.Z., Fair, May to June, selling at £B3; Good fair on spot, nominally £B4 10s; Fair £B3 10s. WHEAT: Market quiet but Arm. Canadian, 81s.
OATS: Firm market, but as Government have entire control, market steady and likely to remain so; N.Z. 565. .
