PELORUS ROAD BOARD.

. GENERAL ELECTION. The ratepayers will be asked to-xnor-row (Saturday) to select a member for the North Bank division of the Pclorus Road Board. Mr John Storey (present chairman) will be opposed by Mr Alexander Weaver, who is coming forward mainly on the hospital issue. Upon this question the two candidates arc at considerable variance, and the result of the uimot may bo regarded as a good reflex of the views of the ratepayers on the much debated topic of hospital expenditure. For the vacant seat in the Pelorus division, caused by the retirement of Mr C. F. Hart, Messrs Charles Nees (who was defeated at the previous election), and Douglas Haswell (a well known Ouopri settler) will light out the issue. Mr Nees has a splendid record behind him, and his return as a member of the Board seems assured. His opponent is an energetic settler and is bound to bo accorded a good measure of support.

The polling booths, which will he open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., will be situated as follows: — North Bunk Division: Schoolhousc, North Bank. Pelorus Division: Koad Board office, Havelock; schoolroom, Canvastown; schoolroom, Pelorus Bridge; Robertson Bros.’ office, Mat Creek; schoolroom, Deep Creek. Mr C. A'Court Opio is the returning officer, who expects to have his returns convicted soon after 7 p.m.
