The Arahura.

Gisborne, March 5, Chains had been attached to the Terawhiti and Tuatea to help to keep the Arahura in a safe position. Up to noon excellent progress was made with pumping, the water being reduced to within 4ft. or sft. of the engineroom plates. A powerful stationary pump is being installed to provide the vessel with an independent means of coping with the water when refloated, Unfortunately the weather changed about midday, an easterly swell interfering with the moorings and tug boats and suspending diving operations. The engineroom staff is engaged in blocking up rivet holes, etc., as the water in the vessel is reduced.
