OBITUARY

REV. HENRY W. HOWELL The death occurred at Ross, Tasmania, of the Kov. H. W. Howell, who succumbed to a sudden attack of heart failure on the 17th of last month. The late Mr Howell ministered for some years in ibe Nelson diocese, and was for some time in charge of the parochial district of Havelock. He left this district in 1905, and keen regret will be felt by l.is many friends here at the news of his death. At the close of the eveniugeervice at St. Peter’s Church on Sunday evening the Rev. A. H. Heron made feeling reference to the memory of Mr Howell, with whom be had been inclose touch for many years in his career in Tasmania. It was a coincidence that his death should have occurred at the very spot whore lie commenced his life’s work. Hu was a man who lived the true life of a Christian, and one that lived to the full all that he was called upon to do. He was courteous and kind to all with whom he came in contact, and his death in the prime of life will be a distinct loss to the Church. HENRY COLLINS. The death occurred at the Blenheim Hospital on Friday of Henry Collins, aged 74, well-known in this district and more particularly in the Pelorus and Wakamarina, brine one of the early gold-seekers. The funeral took place on Sunday at the Have ook cemetery, a number of sympathisers following the remains to their last resting place. The Rev. A. H. Heron conducted the funeral service.

The infant daughter of Mr and Mrs French Pass, who was brought into Havelock last week for treatment, died on Friday at Bay View Nursing Home, and was interred on the following day in the Havelock cemetery. Much sympathy is felt for the parents, this being the second child they had lost in a similar manner.
