JAMES WINS THE KING’S PRIZE At Trentham on Friday a very puffy wind waa very disconcerting to the 50 who fired for the King’s Prize, which was won by James, Okawa, with an aggregate of 499. THE MARLBOROUGH MEN By Thursday night, Trentham began to take unto itself a deserted air, as a number of those competitors who realised that they had no chance of being acclaimed rifle champion for 1913 had left for their homes. In fact, many a good shot met his Waterloo during the day, and departed only to ponder over “ what he might have done.” The matches decided, however, produced good shooting, and again Marlborough marksm en secured prize-money.

In the Hawke’s Bay match, A. Henderson; 48, was third, and won £3 10s, J. W.,Logan, 46, W. West, 45, and L. Oheeseman, 44, each won £l, and in the tyro division Quarter-master-Sergt. Denton, 42, won £l.

Other results are : ‘ Taranaki Match; A. Henderson, 43, £2, Sergt. Simmonds, 40, £l, E. Wells, 40, £l; A. Miller, a trio, won 10s with a score of 35. Outhbertson was counted out. Bisley Aggregate: Outhbertson 246, £l; J. W. Logan 244, £1; A. Hendersen 243, 6s Bd. Running Man : E. Wells 25, 17s ; F. Rowe 20, 10s; Denton, . Simmonds, and Taylor 10s each, with a score of 20. Rifle Club Teams Championship: Sounds, 2145, were fifth, Tua Marina eleventh, and Blenheim twenty-third. , . In the Champion Teams Match l Sounds scored 436, and were placed sixth! Tua Marina, 427, were, fifteenth. The scores of the Sounds team are as follow ;

Of the fifty who fired off in the King’s Prize Janies, .Cuthbertson, Milroy, Roots, Banks, Marehzi, Henderson, Elliott, Mclntosh, Potter, and Bryden were members of the fifty last year.
