LAND BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Marlborough Land Board was held on Tuesday. There were present: The Commissioner (Mr W. H. Skinner) and Messrs Boyd, Reader, Fulton, and McCallum. Mrs I, W. Gregg wrote inquiring about section 10, block a, Linkwater S.D. (Education Reserve), Consideration was held over from last meeting. Mrs A, Dalziel also applied to lease the section, comprising about 355 acres.—The section was assessed at 8a per acre, to be offered to Mrs Dalziel. A. J. Pope applied on behalf of Mrs Ada Pope for a reduction in timber royalties on section 1, block iv., Tennyson S.D. —It was resolved that Mr Hurstbouse, ranger, visit the locality and report on the timber on this section and on four other similar sections in the vicinity. JS.Wiffen applied to lease a strip of land on part of section 7, block ii., Hennga S.D., fronting his section 6, block ii.,(Heringa S.D., about 15 or 20 acres.—Mr Wiffen waited on the Board in support of his application. —Mr Reader gave notice of intention to move at next meeting that the proposal to subdivide the strip into building sections be abandoned.

' The Eai Valley Dairy Factory Coy. applied to lease a portion of the Crown Lands opposite the factory in the Rai Valley (about? acres).— Matter deferred. N. Harvey applied to have the lease of S.G. run No. 16 renewed in his own name. (The lease at present stands in the name of Augusta Harvey). The matter was left to the Commissioner to deal with. Eli Wells applied for about 600 acres of land in block vii,, Wakamarina S.D., on o.r.p. tenure.—The ranger was instructed to submit a report at next meeting. . ' J. Leslie applied for permission to fell bush on pastoral run No. 134, Okaramio, and asked that he be protected for improvements, including fencing; or failing this be asked permission to purchase. —lt was decided that no action be taken at present. ( The Pelorus Road Board furnished valuations of the Education Reserves within their district.—Received. J, Miller applied for the right to occupy two small islands in the Pelorus riverbed adjoining his property, at a nominal rental provided he kept the same cleared of noxious weeds.—The matter was held over, the Ranger to report in the meantime. TKANSFERKS The following applications to transfer were submitted: — E. J. Catley and E. A. Langridge to J. Davies, section 10, block i, Cloudy Bay S.D.—Ranger Hursthouse reported.—The application was approved, subject to permission being given to the owner of mining machinery on the ground to remove it within three months. The suggestion that the Commissioner endeavour to have thorough back country separated from the section with a view to its conversion into a scenery and climatic reserve met with favour. A.
