Wellington Harbour Dues

A BIG REDUCTION Wellington, Last Night. In terms of a promise made by him when be first took the chair that he would reduce the charges of the port, Mr Pleicher, chairman of the Harbour Board, announced last evening that the Board bad agreed to certain reductions. It had been agreed to reduce the harbour improvement rate by 2d per ton and the inward wharfage rate by 2d per ton. The improvement rate would therefore be reduced from 6d told and the wharfage rate from 2s 8d to 2s 6d. Farther concessions had been made on the rate for manures and phosphates, which would be admitted at 2s per ton, practically a redaction from 2s 8d per ton.
