IN THE WATCHES OF THE NIGHT
A little girl had a kitten. She was very fond of it, and it was a great delight to hear it purr. One night she was restless, and her mother said : “Cynthia, why don’t you lie still and go to sleep ?” “I can’t,” answered the little one, "papa purrs so loud.” Mabel : “There goes that young doctor in his motor. Isn’t he just too killing for anything ?” Stella : “Oh, I don’t know. They say he hasn’t any practice to speak of.”
