CANVASTOWN NOTES.

(From our Correspondent). On Monday afternoon the members of the Kia Ora Hoofcey Club met in the reading room for the purpose of making a presentation to Miss Annie Alquist, who had for long been their secretary. ~;Mr Hill and Mr C. Diamanti made speeches and hoped their present -• a lovely silver teapot bearing the inscription “Presented to Miss Annie Alquist by the members of the Kia Ora Hockey Club on the occasion of her Marriage ’’-would serve as a small mememto of the esteem in which she was held by the members of the Hockey Club, and of their appreciation -of her labours on behalf of hockey in the Pelorus. , Miss Alquist suitably responded, and after a pleasant afternoon tea the members dispersed. It was decided by the Kia Oras to purchase a memorial wreath for the grave of the late Miss Marjorie Young, who was once one of their brightest and most energetic members. Mr C. Nelson’s new plant went up to his mine to-day, Wednesday, and some big bursting is expected up there. Mr and Mrs Josephson will spend Easter In Nelson.
