PICTON HOSPITAL BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Picton Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held on Wednesday, there being present —Mr D’Arcy Chaytor (Chairman), and Messrs Maitland, Riddell, Beech, Foster, Simmonds, and Bragg. The Wairau Hospital Board again notified that they could not undertake to pay funeral expenses on account of the late Mr Blackie, and asked the Picton Board to. observe the arrangement entered into some time ago, in regard to patients. The matter of assisting to provide a passage to England for an ex-patient was left in the hands of the Chairman. The Matron of the Picton Hospital made suggestions with a view to more efficiently coping with the domestic work at the institution, and it was decided that she be allowed to carry them into effect. Mr A. F. Redwood, of Tua Marina, forwarded the cash and a statement in connection with the recent benefit concert. The Picton proportion amounted to /3 3s Bd.—A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the donors. Mr J. Haughey forwarded the sum of £9 6s, the proceeds of the recent Koromiko concert.—Mr Bragg proposed'.that a hearty vote of thanks he accorded, Mr and Mrs Haughey, Mr Hastilow, andparty, for their kind efforts. This was seconded by Mr Simmonds and carried. Dr Redman referred to the forthcoming Hospital Bazaar, and said he hoped to be able to hand in a cheque for £IOO or more at the next meeting.
