MAKING MONEY ON A VOYAGE.

A class of work pursued assiduously on the liner is photography, writes Mr. \V. B. Northrop, in the course of an interesting article in "Cassell's Magazine" on "Work and Flay in Mid-Atlantic." Every ship now has special dark rooms for the accomodation ef passengers, and on some of the boats a regular photographer is employed for the purpose of taking photographs of the passengers, or developing and printing for them. These photographers are salaried employes of the ship, and whatever they make—and their earnings are often very considerable—goes # to the benefit of the company. The advantage of having one's films and plates developed on board appeals to most passengers, who are willing to pay high rates in order to se<j their pictures before arrival. An enterprising New York photographer "makes his passage" to England and back every year by taking photographs on board during the crossitig, and selling mounted prints at sea. He travels first cabin and in good style, and fkids numbers of passengers who are quite willing to pay from 4/ to 8/ per photograph.
