NOTES FROM SEDDON.

(From our own Correspondent). Only five bona fide settlers assembled at the Hall to hear Mr Matheson’s speech on the Land Bill. Mr J. G. Armstrong was voted to the chair, and briefly introduced the speaker. His address was on a par with his previous speeches already reported. Mr Mathoson lelt himself open for a real good debate if any person in the audience had been in a debating frame of mind. However, he does not seem to have made much impression, as Mr George Herd has sold his interest in a leasehold of 480 acres for £SOOO. At the conclusion of his address Mr F. M. Foster proposed, and Mr Kelland seconded, “That no Land Bill is satisfactory that does not give the right of purchase to Crown tenants.” A vote of thanks to the speaker and Chairman closed the meeting. The season for socials is at hand, and the Seddon Hall Company are taking the lead next Friday night to raise funds towards paying for the piano. The Government Employees’ social is to take place in about a month’s time. I am pleased to report that Mr Henry Boyce, who went through a serious operation, is progressing favourably.20th May.
