EXHIBITION NOTES.

Mr Owen, [Conductor of the Besses o' the Barn Band, is being asked to accept the position of Judge at the Exhibition band contest, which lakes place from the nth to the 16th February, inclusive. Negotiations are proceeding'with a syndicate to place twelve South African rickshaws, with Native pullers, in the Exhibition, toibe hired for riding purposes. The Hon. the Minister in Charge of the Exhibition lias approved of the expenditure necessary to provide the cook-house and other conveniences connected with the proposed camp of the Public School Cadets, in terms of the scheme suggested by Colonel Loveday. The Commissioner of the Salvation Army, Melbourne, offered the use of the Army's biorama band of twenty-five professional performers at the opening ceremony. The offer has been accepted. Camels for riding purposes within the Exhibition grounds are being obtained from South Australia.

The South Australian Art Society have applied for 500 square feet of space in the Art Gallery. A novel manner of advertising the Exhibition is in operation at the Melbourne Offices of the Executive Commissioners, An electric light sign is being displayed every night for the purpose of drawing the atiention of Melbourne people to the New Zealand International Exhibition, and the date on which it takes place. Tha Sports Committee have arranged that the Axemen's Carnival bhall be hsld on Thursday, 17th, and Saturday, 19th, Jamnry, in the Exhibition Sports Ground. Ihe Besses 0' the Barn Band will play in the sports grouud on the same afternoons.

THE CHARGES'FOR ADMISSION. Christchurch, July 28.

At a meeting of the Exhibition Executive last night the Finance Committee's report recommended the following prices of admission :—Adults is, children half-price; season tickets, adults £1 is, children under 15, 10s 6d, monthly tickets 10s 6d. The report went on to say that at an interview with the Minister-in-charge the matter had been fully discussed, and it had been fonnd that'the above scale of charges was much below" the charges the Government had in view. The Finance Committee were of opinion that the] 4 Executive should suggest a compromise in the direction of making the charge for season tickets as follows :—Gentlemen 30s, ladies £1 is, unmarried members of families 21s, childrsn under 15 years ios 6d, monthly tickets 10s 6d. The Government would probably accept this. The"reporfwas adopted.
