Not long ago tne y&mg. man wanted, without delay, s« amount money and he knew hw father would treat a rvqnwst from him for the same with cold contempt. Waiting till he kn/)W his father would b« away, he sought out, a telephone, , and rang up the office, calling for the cashier. The cashier was forthcoming, and when he was at the other end the young man imitated his father's voice. ‘T say, Blank, if that scapegoat of a son of mine comes round and asts for twenty pounds, don’t give it to him. Only give him ten pounds.” The cashier promised, with many protestations that he would fulfil the command. Not long after, the so." called at the office, and demanded twenty pounds. He was refused by the conscientious cashier, and apparently in anger, the young man contented himself with ten. When the old man reached the office there was a scene.
