LIME WATER,
Because lime water is quite ine<-J pensive its valuable properties are often overlooke*!, or disregarded. Before proceeding to name the uses to which lime water is turned, I describe this very simple recipe for making it. . ■ Place a piece of unslaked lime m a bottle ami fill it. up with cold water. The quantity of lime is immaterial,! as the wa,ter will only take up a cei- ; | tain amount. Cork the bottle tightly, and sot it in a cool, dry place.fn an hour or two it will be fit for use. The clear portion only is poured off. and more water may‘be added to utilise the rest of the lime. Now for the use of the solution, A leaspoonful diluted with milk is a reliable romedv for summer troubles in children. Milk that is just turning sour mav be restored with lime water, half a teacupful being allowed to a pint of milk, and keep it sweet until next day. Lime water will sweeten and purify infant’s bottles. When it is not easy to get unslaked lime, lime water may bo bought cheaply at any druggest’s.
