School Committee.
The ordinary monthly meeting of ' the Havelock School Committee was held on Wednesday evening. Present —Messrs Cavell (Chairmaj), Reader, Buckman, Simmonds, Reader, Orsman, and Pickering. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Pickering reported having attended a meeting of the Committees' Association, at which the most important business transacted was the selection of three candidates for the forthcoming Education Board election. The Education Board notified that they could not grant the Committee's application for the supply of a flagpole.—Mr Reader thereupon offered to supply tho Committee with a pole.— Resolved, to accept Mr Reader's offer, with thanks. The Master's report was read, shewing the average attendance to be: — For the past quarter—Boys, 36*12; girls, 27'54 f total, 03-66. For the pasi month—Boys, 34-3; girls, 27*2 ; 'total, 61-5. Number o:i roll—Boys, 44; girls, 36; total, 80. Messrs Cavell and Simmonds were appointed visiting officers for the ensuing month. Itesolved, that the medals be presented to the children on Wednesday afternoon next at three o'clock. Accounts for £4 10/6 were passed for payment, and the Committee adjourned.
