EXTENSIVE THIEVING. Melbourne, February 1. William Kettle, late manager at Lightfoot's Nurnurkah Flour Mills, has been arrested on charges of stealing wheat. Farmers were allowed to store large quantities of wheat at the mill, and 5000 bags, valued at several thousands of pounds, were discovered to be missing. The proprietor of the mill was unable to meet the claims for loss, and had to file his schedule in the Bankruptcy Court. The losers then proceeded against Kettle, who was unable to satisfactorily account for the shortage. INSANITY. Sydney, February 1. Rebecca Dean, sister of the notorious George Dean, has been sent to a lunatic asylum. ' FATAL SHIPWRECK. Thursday Island, February 1. The mail steamer brings news that the Japcnese cruiser Kopei, formerly the Chinese cruiser Kowngping, was wrecked near the Pescadore Islands, during December, and thirty of her crew were drowned.
