The Christchurch Election.

What does it all mean'? Out of a population of over thirty thousand people there seems a difficulty in securing one person who will make a good representative for the Liberal Party. Surely there must be plenty of suitable material to select from out of such a number, or otherwise it does not speak very highly for the electors. The fact is, we assume, there are so many aspirants for the position that the most capable men hold back, and this has always been a mistake with the Liberals of the Colony; they divide their strength, and, in common parlance often get ' euchred ' through doing so, as an Opposition man then creeps in between them. It is a pity thst they do not show more wisdom and make a omo man one fight of it. It is rumoured that John Kerb is going to contest the Christchurch seat, but we think that requires confirmation.
