THE PELORUS GUARDIAN, AND MINERS' ADVOCATE. TUESDAY, February 4th., 1896. Recreation Ground.

Some time since we pointed out the necessity for the Town Board to take some action in acquiring certain sections in the town for the purpose_ of transforming them into a recreation ground, but we have not heard of anything being done about the proposal since. It must be apparent to everyone that some immediate action is needed to secure a suitable piece of ground for the purpose named, and we do not know of any other place in the town where an area suitable for football, cricket, and other sports, could be acquired, and if the matter was properly arranged no doubt the Government would place a small sum on the Estimates for such a good purpose as assisting to form a public recreation ground. The day may arrive much quicker than we anticipate when we could not purchase any suitable sections, and then the opportunity will have passed away for ever. Once more we, bring the matter prominently before the Town Board and the ratepayers, as something worthy of their attention, and we hope the proposal will be treated with the consideration that is merited.
