TO THE EDITOR, Sm, — We have had the fire, and a narrow escapa from having the wooden structures of Havelock rased to the ground. Also we have the water, but what is the use qf it under similar qir3unq.itiqsea tq those espirienqetl last night with a fierae and gusty wind blowing? We have also a Waterworks Committee who have had several meetings re bringing a water-supply into tip towq, with the' Result tqat a qaqyassei: \yas * pointed to gee what bur townsmeq would contribute' by rates or forming a joint stock-company tq that eqq. But what has he done? Qiery? Echo a iswers, What ? I would suggest that a iqeetiqg ha called at oqoe ' by the Chairman of the Town Board before we again fall iufcq a stata r of somnambulance, to be again roused by the appalling cry of “ Fire 1 ” And awah* tq the honors of homes laid waste, and children left destitute crying in despair.
